Hooded Crow is so similar in structure and
habits to Carrion Crow that some authorities consider them to be
merely geographical forms of one species; however in 2002 it was
elevated to full species status by the BOU. In the UK Hooded
Crow breeds regularly in Scotland and the Scottish Islands. They
are also widespread in Ireland where they are locally known as
'Grey Crows'. Some historical names for Hooded Crow include;
Dunbilly, Greyback, Royston Dick, Harry Dutchman, Corbie and
Scald Crow.
